If so please let us Brits know how you get on with the steering damper fix and how the cars steering feels at a steady 110km/hr cruise (68mph).

As you may be aware there is a long thread on Xpower steering vibration / hum and you Ozzies are the first to get the official MG fix.

Of these I have:

• removed the centre rear headrest (shame it doesn't fit under the raised boot floor),
• the boot floor raised (was already raised when I took delivery),
• the MG4 floor mats, and
• the V2L adapter.

I also have:

• a spare type 2 charge cable I leave in the car, and recently,
• an OBD2 adapter (OBDLink CX), mainly for use with ABRP.
  Not sure it's all that useful for other stuff, other than a little bit of a diagnostic.

As for the others, I may one day:

• put in better interior lighting (night driving is generally rare for us),
• a dashcam is of interest,
• as is a towbar (now officially offered by MG).

Not sure about:

• paint protection

No intention to:

• remove wheels covers / change wheels
• add fingerprint screen protector

The first thing I did was install 200 lumen LED interior light bulbs for the princely price of $7.40 delivered to my door which made a huge difference to the dark interior.

Got a V2L adaptor via Ali Express for $40.00 & it works really well & does not limit output to 2kW like the overpriced MG product.

The granny charger won't fit under the floor in its case but will in a soft bag along with the V2L adaptor.

Screen protector, Nah. These can reduce capacitive resistance & make the screen less responsive. I just keep a microfibre cloth in the door pocket & wipe it every now & again.

Floor mats. They didn't have them when I got my car so I got a good front set for $25.00 from Supercheap & they fit well. I had to cut holes & fiddle about to get the retainers on the floor to hold the drivers one down. I already had a few spare rear ones so that is sorted.

Remove the aero covers? Why, that only reduces range as well as the look.

Dashcam, nah, not my cup of tea.

Someone should create a replacement cover for the front boot (is it a Froot or a Frunk) with a large enough depression in it to hold a few things like Tesla has done. There is a lot of spare space underneath but there are also a few cables & fluid lines. A minor redesign could move these to the side.

I just chuck my type 2 cable, in its bag, on top of the plastic tray and shut the bonnet on it. It fits perfectly well and the pressure of the bonnet stops it moving around. You don't need a frunk.

Though having said that, I did see an ad from a company that had made one.

I'm in wa, got my 64 Essence about 2 months ago. Reasonably happy with it. Have had two AEB activations when turning right at an intersection, for no discernible reason. Scary and dangerous. Other gripe is when you change certain settings, they don't save. Have to do it every time you drive. Very annoying!

Yes, we want to know once the fix and deliveries start again please (and any news you get about this issue in the meantime) ? . In the UK there are many existing Xpower owners and MG UK will not officially acknowledge the issue.

Ah! Being from Australia, I find the monarchy amusing. It just didn't occur to me that it would be otherwise for other people. Please accept my apologies for being so inconsiderate.

As for "froot", I do try, but my rock star influence only goes so far. Mostly in my imagination.

I also campaign quietly for correctness in units, even for the case of the letters. No Kelvin week Henries (KwH) in forums where I have editing privileges, at least where I notice them.

Not quite. It was a council by-election with zero chance of winning, but somebody had to stand as the candidate, and I drew the short straw. Wild horses wouldn't drag me into any parliament. Anyway, I resigned from the SNP early in 2021. My resignation letter is still up on the net. There were about 20 reasons I think.

The units are interesting. I was always taught that multiples of the basic unit were denoted by capital letters, so it should be a capital K for Km, Kw etc. But common usage doesn't always do that. Fractions of the basic unit are denoted by lower-case letters, m, μ, n, p, f, a etc.

When using the SI or metric system of units, only multiples of one million and higher use capital letter prefixes. The rest use lower case, with one lower case Greek letter, μ, thrown into the mix for micro (10⁻⁶).

I also use OBDLink (LX in my case) for my track car to monitor the vitals (oil pressure, temps, etc).
OBDLink make very good products. The LX still works flawlessly after many years of (ab)use.

I know there are plenty of cheap knock-offs available, but for those who are interested in diagnostics I highly recommend supporting a company that have invested in a good quality product.
