MG4 in Australia

I've never had a problem charging at a fast/super charger with the car still on or unlocked. As soon as it starts, I do the same & head off for a cuppa & check the SOC from the app. The only problems have been with the chargers themselves especially Tritium chargers.

An issue I have had lately is that I am driving along the Pacific highway at 110 km/h in ACC & the system comes up with a whole heap of errors including ACC being disengaged and front/rear collision systems, LKA etc no longer work. If I stop & shut down & restart all is OK again. This has happened about 5 or 6 times in the last 3 months or so. If I just keep on driving sometimes the systems will start again by themselves.

Anyone else had this issue? My first service & software update is not due till mid September & the problem hasn't been enough to warrant a whinge to the dealer so I'll wait & let them know when I get the service done.

Ok thanks I've had issues at a couple of EVIE chargers, I think it is more the charger than the car, I then tried at a Tesla Supercharger and all worked ok straight away. I did shut down the car on all occasions. Procedure was - get out of car, press lock on the key fob, wait 5 secs, press unlock on keyfob, unlock back door, press charge flap to open flap, then get heavy charge cord from DC power station and connect to car. It says to switch off car and wait 10 secs before DC charging, but I do not think anyone does this.

Never had that happen while driving. Before starting once, yes.

How the condition of the 12 V battery?

12V battery is 12.6V with car off which is what I would expect & charges at about 14V when the car is in ready state. Everything works properly when car is not in ready state so I don't think that is the problem. I can't replicate the fault as it happens so rarely. All I can do is document each occurrence & report this to MG service. I haven't so far but will take a note each time if it happens again before first service.

What type of Evie where they.
They do have a lot of Tritium still which can be fussy when they work.
I used 3 Evie on way home from getting the MG4 and no problems with MG or Tesla charging.
Get a RFID card as well make life a lot easier with Evie and Chargefox

I have all the cards, just problems with connection even before charging. The Evie at Bundamba and Petbarn McGregor has issues with connection.

Looking plugshare seems most people having problems McGregor and it is a Tritium..
Which I always look at 50-50 if they work
Be nice when they all replaced.

Little fun fact, you apparently only need one rfid card, as long as you tell your other apps what the code is it’ll identify you and link any charges to your own account.

I didn’t hear this until I had a few cards so I’ve never tried it though

Evie one is free then link Chargefox to it.

no I havent but don't wait for a scheduled service. My local MG service depatment said to "request a Diagnostic Service" for a serious problem, it should be free... but you may have to wait. I am waiting for them to look at my reversing camera which works most of the time...but useless at other times.

Yes. I have my Chargefox card also linked to my Evie account.
You could use your Opal Card (if you're in NSW) or any other RFID card if you know its number.
There's an app for Android phones that lets you scan a card and find its number.
I haven't tried it yet but will soon as I need to set my wife up for DC charging. Up to now she's only used charging at home but she really needs to be able to use them just in case.
Far better to be ready and have practiced fast charging before having to rely on it in an "emergency".

Another fun fact. The NRMA chargers are often broken; meaning unresponsive to their app. But if you plug in the cable and press START CHARGE on MG's screen and then press GREEN START BUTTON on the the charger then you get a free charge. So don't necessarily believe the app when it says the charger is broken.
I find the RFID cards work when the app doesn't, getting me out of a pickle .

Just wondering about regularity of 100% charging. I do up to 3 trips to Canberra a week (I should move there) which means about 380km in total which is getting up to the max. comfortable range for me.
If I charge to 100% the night before I start my weekly driving, can I do this week by week with respect to battery health?

Everything I've read says yes. 100% is only a problem when the car isn't used for an extended period. Just overnight is OK

Thanks, much as I had reasoned myself…means I just need to charge once a week, usually the night before or the morning before. It would also take me down to the sub 20% level each time.
