FYI - mentioning the AEB tech bulletin from March 2024 got me an update to the AEB module and infotainment (assuming they are separate modules). Confirming the infotainment update because I now have the button to turn off ELK when I pull down on the right of the screen (plus also had to re-apply all my defaults, like not turning on the side cameras when turn indicator is on and reducing indicator noise). Assume this also updates the cruise control, but won't be able to test that for a while.

Apparently there have been a few cars going in for their 2 year service with charge lights not working. Mine is back on 10 Nov for a few days with a free loan car to get that finally fixed. As the service manager said, it's going to be an expensive item for MG, so they want to be in control. Need to be persistent with MG service. Understand that it would be a complete pain for country owners.

I have the same space saver from a VW golf and a dry fit only works on the rear of the 77. The Front caliper is way too big for it. Looks like a hunt for a relacement.

It will still work for now, I will just need to add a car stand until
i can replace it.

My car is booked in for software updates on 26th of November after the kerfuffle of it not being done when it went in for its first service.

Over the past year I have had the car suddenly drop out of ACC when cruising at 110 kmh on the Pacific highway 4 or 5 times, and warnings come up that forward collision, AEB, LKA & AEB systems have all failed. After a few minutes the systems all come back on line when I see the displays change from orange to white. I have no idea why this has occurred.

This happened to me again on Saturday, & this time it was just the forward collision symbol that turned orange, then the warning but a short time later they all went and this time never came back.

I got home & shut down & a restart had no effect. I don't lock the car so will try this & leave it for a while. I saw on the Aus MG4 facebook page this had occurred to someone else as well. Any comments on a fix would be welcome. I am not too bothered as it is only a week & a bit till the car goes in for the updates.

Only commenting because my 64 Essence is from Aug 23 and therefore the same batch, originally with the same software (though upgraded now). We have only driven from Sydney to Wollongong and Sydney to Newcastle, but that should include similar roads. My wife only had false AEB at a particular location in Sydney and neither of has seen the symptoms you describe on motorways. Sounds like something specific to your vehicle and perhaps more than software

As I mentioned it has occurred with others as well. I locked the car & left it for a while & also did what another owner did that fixed it for him & that was to drive the car turning the wheel lock to lock & then the same in reverse. No change but as soon as i got out on the road it fixed itself. Of course LKA ELK & possibly fwd collision alert does not activate under 60 km/h. So whether it was locking or turning the wheel I don't know but it is fixed. It is on my list of issues for the software update though.

Just a throwaway suggestion, but is the forward camera / glass clear? Mine has deactivated occasionally usually due to weather causing the vision system to struggle. I'd imagine a well placed bug splat might do similar.

No the forward camera has never had any crud on it to trigger a system shutdown. Several owners on the Aus MG4 facebook page have reported the same problem so i am not alone.

Picked up my car from warranty items fix today - the under tray bulge fix and creaking driver's seat. They replaced the driver's seat back. It's much better now. Not perfect but way better.

Also I plugged in the OBD reader for the first time in ages. SOH reading is showing 99%. Over two years old and 30,000 km.

I love that the Max and Min battery temperature are 13 and 11 degrees higher than the average :ROFLMAO:

EVCC voltage 675.61v? What is actually being measured? I thought all the MG4 range was based on the 400vdc architecture ......

The torque figure seems a bit low as well :ROFLMAO:
Some of the data is a bit amusing. Not sure if they are just not being mapped correctly by the OBD software.

Since I was parked in the garage I would expect motor torque to be zero.

I don't pay much attention to it. Just posted for amusement.

Mission accomplished ;) ..... it does add a degree of validation to the listed SOH ...... but, no one buys an MG4 to get a battery that will last forever, they buy and drive it because it is such a great package for the $$ spent ..... my 51 has got to be the best driving experience for the $$ I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot of very exciting cars, but none would even come close to the driving pleasure per $$ that this MG4 delivers.

The most smiles per mile, by far ......

On 21st of October a bloke in a Mitsubishi Triton Ute went through a give way sign & hit me damaging the right hand rear panel & bumper. It is all on my dashcam. He admitted liability up front & the insurance company immediately absolved me of any costs etc.

All good until it came to the repair. It took a month to get the repairers to do the repair assessment. That has now been done and it is booked in for the repair on 2nd of February next year. They say it will take up to 10 days. I get a free EV hire car while it happens but all this seems an extraordinarily long time for what does not look like a major problem to me.

This is my first insurance claim since I was 20 when I crashed my motorbike so is the length of time normal these days or is it because the car is perfectly driveable?

Yes seems a big problem with repairs taking ages.
No idea why assessment took ages which sucks
From what I read they need to buy new parts from MG or whoever. They have limited parts on hand so order and you wait for a bunch to come in via a boat

You also now see a lot of cars written off when they could have been fixed.
As they have to pay hire cars for months which make the repair un financial.

Why our premiums go up and up.
Old days they bang out or bog up or get a panel from the wreckers to save $ and off you go

The amount of B/S involved with using parts from a wreckers these days in mind numbing. They need the chassis number and reason why the vehicle was available for parts .... a write vehicle then needs proof the area the part was harvested from wasn't affected by the damage that caused the car to be declared a write off.

You are lucky your repairer didn't add some damage to electrical components, like the charger/V2L module hanging behind the bumper ..... there are definite indicators that was the case with the MG4 repairable Write off I bought at a Victoria Pickles salvage vehicle auction. Once there is a sign there is damage to any component involved with the whole EV high voltage part, the insurer will write it off ......

I'm guessing no airbags deployed, that is also an indicator they will write the EV off ..... no one wants to get involved with stripping out an EV interior and having to diagnose and replace crash modules ..... far too many chances a totally unrelated problem will somehow come back at the repairer as being a warranty item .....

It's not unusual for a crash repairer to be booked up 6 mths in advance .... if the vehicle wasn't drivable for that 6 mth period, probably a write off validation as well .....

The damage is the panel behind the rear door & about the size of a large dinner plate. Missed the door by only a couple of millimetres. From what I have seen of modern car manufacture that is part of a single pressing of the entire side so either they get a piece & weld it in or beat it out which is no longer an easy task given the use of high tensile steel these days. The bumper survived with only scratches to the paint.

I thought the Silver MG4 repairable Write off had minimal damage and I could have repaired it in a week if it wasn't for all the rules and regulations

Visible was a dent in the bottom of the rear hatch, in the centre, and a few marks in the plastic bumper, easily repairable ..... but no, must be a replacement bumper and replacement rear hatch, rear "crash" bar, new charger/V2L and the slight crinkle in the rear floor pan, pulled out on a chassis aligner and all measurement to meet factory specs, at every measurement point, not just the damaged area, who knows if an MG4 from the factory would pass that sort of testing
