I think those recent “range extender” EVs are even worse, that’s just a hybrid where the ICE doesn’t drive the wheels. They’ve just strapped a generator to the car really.

I don’t see the appeal in hybrids, you get the worst from both worlds. You’re hauling around a battery pack (with the initial worse pollution from production) as well as a heavy engine block (which keeps the pollution up with tailpipe emissions). I can see the appeal in selling them if you’re a dealership, you can still do lots of maintenance on them and make money.

SCA has stick-ons (with a hole for a rivet but no rivet supplied) and Repco it seems has no sticky backing just the rivet. Although they do come with fancy blue rivets so as not to ruin the aesthetics of your little triangle.
Our hybrid Prius got us out of the shitte over the last 2 days when we ended up stranded in Balranald, our motorhome locked away in a mechanics workshop and with a small dog, we couldn't get accommodation anywhere.
Ended up having to drive 250kms to a friend's place in Echuca for the night, then back to Balranald today, to collect the motorhome.

Yes, the MG4 would have made the trip each way, but finding somewhere to recharge when already stressed to the max, would not have been a good thing, so in this case, the petrol engine hybrid did the job just fine and returned 700kms for 50 ltrs .... we were not driving in a fuel saving manner you might say ..... questionable if the MG4 would have done the 250kms each way under that sort of driving pressure .....

I just did a 225 km one way run in the MG4, and back up two days later, with nowhere near using up a full battery each way, and doing 110 km/h most of that trip. So surely the MG4 would easily do 250 kms. Either way, compared to my full ICE 308 that returned roughly 600 km on a 50 litre tank, I still don't see what's so good about a hybrid car. At least the ICE car didn't have the upfront pollution of a big battery pack. Of course electric is better still as the absence of any tailpipe emissions greatly offsets the initial pollution of the battery pack, but hybrid doesn't do that.

I accept a hybrid can alleviate any range anxiety one might have, but from an environmental standpoint I still think hybrids are the worst of both worlds.

Damn!

Just wondering, doesn't the Balranald caravan Park allow dogs?

I guess at this time of the year they might not have had a free cabin to hire.

One of the crosses we dog owners have to bear. What to do with the dogs when we go away on holidays.

First World Problem :D

I have done several trips from my old home in Corindi Beach, NSW to Noosa QLD, about 500km mostly at 110kmh with some 100kmh & traffic holdups especially on the Gold Coast. My regular stop in the BP at Coomera, 300km away and I still have about 30% battery left. Topping up at the 150kW chargers while having a quick bite usually gets the battery up to between 80% & 95%.

If I ran till the battery was almost exhausted I reckon I'd get 360-380km mostly cruising at 110kmh. I'm happy with that.
