spare
A spare tire (or stepney in some countries) is an additional tire (or tyre - see spelling differences) carried in a motor vehicle as a replacement for one that goes flat, has a blowout, or has another emergency. Spare tire is generally a misnomer, as almost all vehicles actually carry an entire wheel with a tire mounted on it as a spare rather than just a tire, as fitting a tire to a wheel would require a motorist to carry additional, specialized equipment. However, some spare tires ("space-saver" and "donut" types) are not meant to be driven long distances. Space-savers have a maximum speed of around 50 mph (80 km/h).When replacing a damaged tire, placing the compact spare on a non-drive axle will prevent damage to the drivetrain. If placed on a drivetrain axle, the smaller-diameter tire can put stress on the differential causing damage and reducing handling.
Hi all,
I now have no need for a spare wheel complete with fixing screw, Jack & wheel brace.
Sensible offers.
Collection from Kettering area as box thrown away ages ago.
I bit the bullet today and ordered the official spare wheel package.
For those that have also purchased the proper package (part number 10959444) did you manage to negotiate a decent discount on the £249 recommended price?
Mine is coming from an MG dealer in Cambridge for £201 delivered but I'm...
ZS drivers are fortunate enough to have the option of purchasing a spare emergency wheel that will fit under the boot floor.
However this isn't the case with the HS PHEV unfortunately due to the batteries being stored underneath. I don't know how much use the supplied 'puncture repair kit'...
Came back from a weekend trip away last night, and on the journey, noticed the back right was showing high 20s psi, whilst everything else was mid 30s. Took the wheel off today, and found that little darling hanging out of the tread 🤦♂️
Sods law says of course it wouldn't be in the repairable...
I was unable to get hold of a space saver kit in Australia. To buy the UK kit via eBay involved very high shipping expenses, so in the end I had to buy a rim from MG in Australia for $AUS446. I put on a cheapish Maxxis tyre ($119.00) and added a scissor jack and wheel brace for $55.00. All of...
My dealer gave me the wrong spare wheel kit. They gave me the one for a MG GS/MG ZS EV. In resolving the issue I've learnt a few things.
The space saver wheel is the same between the models (MG aftersales confirmed this) but it's the tool kit, polystyrene insert and the retention bolt that...
I have a MG ZS EV here in Australia. It is impossible to buy a space saver kit here as spare parts search by VIN and the result is zero. Could some kind soul find me the part number for the space saver spare wheel kit?
Took the good advice from another owner to get the spare wheel kit from my dealer. They supplied and fitted same yesterday. Only once I got home did I check. They supplied the ZS kit which will not fit the EV’s bolts. Could be worth checking if you have been supplied with the correct item...
Does anyone know if a spare set of bulbs is available for the MGZS EV?
Not that I am going anywhere at the present time but some countries require that a spare set of bulbs is carried at all times.
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum. I've had my ZS EV for a couple of months and have done nearly 2,000 miles. Generally I love it to bits.
However my car went in for a recall on Monday (door wiring loom???) that was fine, but this morning, I noticed my sunroof was not properly shut. I've read my...
