I've always had the pull down screen but there's no option to disable LKA/ELK.

What I have used it for is changing screen brightness.
So you get the pull down menu but not the ELK option?

Most strange!

That is the same screen I have which is from when the car was new 2 years ago. Geoff King have not updated all of the software so you may have to take it back for them to do it. I will be discussing this with them on Thursday when I take mine in for its first service & will make sure it is done.

Which suggests you have an older version Infotainment software.
It would seem so. I'll add it to the feedback and also the list of items to attend to when it goes back in for the under tray and driver's seat fix in November.

I wonder what was upgraded based on their service report? Certainly the software managing ELK was changed, as has ACC as both operate differently.

On my trip this weekend to BrisVegas and back I got maybe 2 or 3 warning beeps but no steering interventions. On a trip like that previously with ELK not disabled it would have intervened perhaps 30 or 40 times, most of the time tugging me to go off the road.

The ACC change makes the system a bit more user friendly. While the tap to change speed is now 1 km/h increments, at least when holding the joystick up/down for a bit longer it does work to do the 5 km/h increments, rather than the crappy way it used to (not) work when attempting to make 1 km/h changes before.

I used TJA on Friday when heading north between Gold Coast and Brisbane as the traffic was pretty awful and it was a crawl, stop/start for long sections. It worked although needs to be a bit smoother with the acceleration and braking.

Let us know how it goes. My infotainment software is still reporting this:

After my 2 year service I was still on R05.
I've been too lazy to plug the laptop in and do anything about it yet.
Do you have a VNCI VDI3 adaptor?

I've been watching the other thread about them and had half a mind to get one myself but I'm not aware if anyone in Australia has successfully done their own software updates.

I got my car serviced (40k first service) by Geoff King MG today. It was booked from 8:10am til 3:30 pm. I got there at 7:50am & finally got the car back at 4.45pm. Almost 9 hours for the following.

The drivers window motor mechanism was fixed (poor connections) but they broke some trim getting at it. Has to go back to get this fixed.

They apparently rotated the tyres. I'll check in the morning 3mm tread on the rear, 4mm on the front (now reversed). 11mm brake linings front & rear.

They didn't get round to adjusting the high beam as requested.

BUT the worst thing was no software updates were done at all despite me telling the woman checking the car in to make sure that the quick pull down menu was updated when they did it.

Then when I got the car back the drivers seat was laid right back & there was dirt all over the drivers side mat.

To say I am a bit annoyed is a F#@%ing massive understatement. I have written a detailed complaint. I'll see what happens.

I had dirt all over the centre console when I picked mine up from service a few weeks back.

I suspect it might have come from the pollen filter when they replaced it, no idea how else it got there. Had to vacuum the car when I got home.

Like you I was pretty disappointed, particularly coming from previously owning a Toyota where the car would be immaculate when I picked it up from a service.

Did they switch around the TPMS sensors or are these now in the wrong positions?
I thought they automatically sensed the right location?

That sucks.

I asked them to so I hope so. The pressures were all over the place when I picked the car up so I'll check today & drop the pressure on one tyre, go for a drive & see what happens. Based on their performance I am not hopeful.

Once I get this sorted out I will not be going back. Lismore is the closest MG dealer and they are a lot smaller and don't have several other brands to look after. It is a 240km round trip to GKing & 180km to Lismore MG.

It's a shame there isn't a dealer in Grafton. You may be better off with a smaller dealer like Lismore. I find that even with yearly visits in the past, it's never the same person when you go back to big dealers. High turnover of staff.

Back in the big smoke it looks like I have a choice of 14 operating dealers in Sydney metro (and one temporarily closed). Hoping Pennant Hills fix my charging lights eventually (booked 20 Oct). Verbally they young chap on the service desk said they could also do a software upgrade at the same time, but it will "take all day". Worth calling GKing before you go back and confirm what they are going to do

Our next closest is Port Macquarie 245 km round trip. I would very much like to avoid needing to go there.

No they don't. I think that was one of the corners MG cut.
Hmmm, seems to be different info out there on this.

My understanding is if a new sensor is fitted then it needs to be registered to the car and that requires the dealer to perform that, but if it's just a rotation of existing sensors then they will self-learn their new positions after a while. The user manual indicates it's a self-learning system.

You can reset the TPMS system by holding the select button down with the TPMS screen showing, then a short drive should see them reassigned to their new positions.

The way I read that highlighted bit is that if you are to replace a sensor OR rotate the tyres, it needs to see an MG dealer to go through the self-learning process. Which to be fair would be the opposite of “self” learning.

I suppose we’ll find out when @Corindikev does his test.

It would surprise me though if MG really went for individual sensors but then not have them report which corner they are on automatically. Surely if you’re trying to save cost you could just satisfy any TPMS regulation with the variant that monitors rotational speed of the tyres through the ABS module. The one that just lets you know one of your tyres is lower than the others, without specifically saying which one.

My SE needed a new sensor on a rear wheel recently, as the old one (part of the valve I believe) was leaking air apparently - didn’t have to go to MG dealer. Car is reading fine ever since.

The understanding in the UK from early cars has been that the sensors will work if you switch the wheels around but the positions will be incorrect.

I haven't heard of the car being able to auto-detect and relearn the new positions without a visit to the dealer.

However, it might have been part of a software update to make this work, that's entirely possible.

There certainly haven't been a lot of complaints and a fair few people do rotate the tyres.

The latest MG4 manual as per the iSmart App has the TPMS self learning process in it on page 241. What make more turns while driving means is anyones guess. Maybe you need to go round corners so the TPMS knows which wheels are at the front & theoretically which is left and which is right but what about the rear wheels?
