I've got a pre-facelift MG5 from the second half of 2021 and no OBD reader seems to connect to the ECU. I found a recommendation for a Nexas Nexlink BT5 device elsewhere on the forum, which that user said works with their car. However, it doesn't seem to work for mine.
I'm using an Android...
Well, I’ve been driving my Pre-FL LR MG5 for a month now.
The 3 pin charger is working well and certainly keeps the battery at around 70% easily. I’ve driven nearly 700 miles without an issue. I did get the 70,000 mile service done at a cost of £230.00 which included the replacement of two rear...
I have a two and a half year old MG5 long range and on two occasions (several weeks apart) I have been waiting in traffic with the manual parking brake applied and when I try to move off (by just pressing the accelerator) nothing happens! I can't be sure but I think the heating fan stops but the...
I drove to Leeds and back in the last few days and thought I'd give the Tesla charger at Trumpington (Cambridge) a go. On the way up I only seemed to get 30-35 kW on the way back down I thought I'd give the battery pre-heating a try and put it on 30 mins before the stop and charged at 70-75kW...
I have to say the seat belt not on warning in the MG FL is the most gentle pleasant sound I have had in any car. With the bonus is stops the annoying sound from the indicator lol
Ps I do wear my seat belt when driving just noticed this when I was moving the car slightly.
I'm well aware of the 75kg dynamic load limit for the 71 plate MG5 LR Exclusive; can anyone point to a reliable source for what the static load limit is?
Interested because of possible roof tent use - if there was one under 75kg, that'd be ok for dynamic load, but I don't really want to trash...
Last night I used a fast charger on the M25. Only charged for 15 minutes then got HV fault. Locked the car and returned 20 minutes later all good. I've seen some post where they say disconnect the battery.
Is it worth carrying a small jump starter?
TIA
Hi,
I have just bought a second hand 22 plate MG5 LR ( or so I think!). On delivery the GOM is saying I have 103 miles left on 47% charge, equating to about 210 on a full tank. This is after resetting the trip counter and with no heating/lights on etc. I read on the forums a LR should show about...
I've decided to get rid of my MG5 as soon as I can get it repaired. I've phoned the local MG dealership and the two separate body repair shops they use a dozen times, and visited them in person, over the last five months (since a minor accident in early September) and they can't even get me a...
So... get in car... everything boots up normally... but then I find I cant adjust the radio volume.... the slider goes up and down but no actual change to the sound.
Change channel... same.. change to phone input.. same.
Stop car.
Turn off.
Lock car.
Start up again... same issue.
Repeat...
I purchased an MG5 demonstrator in October 23, and have been waiting since then for the dealership to unbind it so that I can bind it to the iSmart app on my phone. Can anyone tell me how to access my service history without using the app? I'm told the car was serviced back in November while it...
I’ve had my 2023 MG 5 facelift for 1 year now, it’s just had its first service. I’ve only been driving it 10 of those 12 months though because they had to replace the power supply unit in the car because DC charging didn’t work when it came out the factory (I posted about that).
The latest...
Can anyone suggest what went wrong here, and how to deal with it?
l tried multiple public points, 7kW and CCS. No power got through but i got the message "connected not charging".
At home, the granny-charger did connect & did charge.
What data did not get through? & what can I try next?

Been a while since I used a rapid charger but decided to pop round and try the shinny new MFG 150kw chargers round the corner from me. I didn’t preheat the battery and it was about 13c outside.
I was charging from 50 to 85% just to see the speed difference once it hit 80%.
What puzzled...
Car went in for a service today, raised the issue of a peeling finish on the Drive selector top.
Returned as it was, the fault is classed as a trim issue which only has a 2 year warranty. They want to replace the entire selector at £172
I read on hear a couple of thread that peopl have...
Hi,
I had a look under the car for the first time this evening after almost two years of ownership and it looks as if I might be missing a cover on the nearside behind the front axle. I can see connectors on the HV battery and would have expected them to be covered.
I've attached two photos...
Does anyone else have issues with one of their cameras now and again? I find it we start the car and quickly go into reverse sometimes the reverse camera doesn't show on screen. Also has the effect of the car icon getting fat as it stretches to fill the screen where camera missing.
Hi All
Had a slight scrape in a car park today (somebody carelessly reversing into me, even though I was stationary!!) Damage is pretty modest tbf so weighing up best thing to do. Anyone recommend any touch up paint type stuff that would cover the scrapes? Not that bothered from an aesthetic...
