Tyre (; Arabic: صور, romanized: Ṣūr; Phoenician: ??, romanized: Ṣūr, Greek Tyros, Τύρος) is a city in Lebanon, one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world, though in medieval times for some centuries by just a tiny population. It was one of the earliest Phoenician metropolises and the legendary birthplace of Europa, her brothers Cadmus and Phoenix, as well as Carthage's founder Dido (Elissa). The city has many ancient sites, including the Tyre Hippodrome, and was added as a whole to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1984. The historian Ernest Renan noted that "One can call Tyre a city of ruins, built out of ruins".Today Tyre is the fourth largest city in Lebanon after Beirut, Tripoli, and Sidon. It is the capital of the Tyre District in the South Governorate. There were approximately 200,000 inhabitants in the Tyre urban area in 2016, including many refugees, as the city hosts three of the twelve Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon: Burj El Shimali, El Buss, and Rashidieh.

    Tyre repairs

    I have just discovered that my new MG4 has no spare tyre! This is more than a little worrying. Acc to the manual there is a 'repair kit' which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Does anyone have any experience of actually dealing with a puncture? Does the tyre repair kit actually work? ?

    Any of you chaps know where I can get one and not break the bank? Last week I had a blowout that destroyed the tyre; the compressor/liquid goo was useless and I think for me one of thos thin-looking tyres will suit me better. Any ideas?

    Electric tyre pump

    Anyone had a problem with the pump supplied with the car? First time use of mine it went bang. Bugger needed it to recover a flat tyre on the side of the road. Ended up an expensive recovery rather that a pot of gloop to repair the puncture. MG say the pump is not covered by insurance.

    Another tyre question

    MG5 Trophy - on checking the tyre websites (e.g. black circles and asda) I put in my reg no and it says that the correct tyres are 215/55/17. However, the tyres fitted to my car are 215/50/17 - Premitra 5. Is this correct, and what size are your 17 inch wheels fitted with?
