The Toyota RAV4 EV is an all-electric version of the popular RAV4 SUV produced by Toyota until 2014. Two generations of the EV model were sold in California, and to fleets elsewhere in the US, with a gap of almost ten years between them.
The first generation was leased from 1997 to 2003, and at the lessees' request, many units were sold after the vehicle was discontinued. A total of 1,484 were leased and/or sold in California to meet the state's mandate for zero-emissions vehicle. A small number were sold or leased in fleet sales in other states. As of mid-2012, there were almost 500 vehicles still in use in California. Production of the second generation EV was limited to 2,600 units during a three-year run, with sales limited to California beginning in 2012. Production ended in September 2014. A total of 2,489 units of the second generation model were sold in California through April 2015.Toyota worked together with Tesla Motors and Panasonic to develop the second generation RAV4 EV, and the electric SUV was released in the United States in September 2012. The US Environmental Protection Agency rated the second generation RAV4 EV with a range of 103 mi (166 km) and a combined fuel economy rating of 76 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (3.1 L/100 km).
Preaching to the converted here, but I thought some of the battery-heads might appreciate this article about re-using EV batteries for stationary storage.
Also - is that a photo of a smashed MGS5? If so it can't be very old! But maybe it is virtually the same on the side view as all the other...

It started with A/C barely cooling and noisier under the hood , but now the A/C won't turn on at all - no cold air, and the A/C compressor is silent. Where I am, it's always faster to pre-diagnose issues by oneself. My questions:
1. Would hooking up the computer show the reason for the failure...
I very rarely need to use public chargers, but I stopped to put a little bit back into my battery on a recent longer than usual journey. It was very sunny, and virtually impossible to read anything on the screen. Is it too much to ask for charger companies to put some sort of canopy over the...
Is there an OBD thing for this car?
Recent mileages indicate the battery capacity is low, maybe 80 miles per charge....
If I can check it, I can see if the battery warranty will kick in...
Hello all. I took possession of my MG5S LR Trophy yesterday (in Piccadilly Blue) . . and just wanted to post a few random comments and questions after a grand total of 24 hours of ownership. First a big shout out to @LaS who came back to answer his own question about how to turn off the speed...
Been searching without luck, hoping someone can advise. Nothing in the user manual gives a clear answer.
I'm picking up a 2022 ZS EV (Excite / base model in Australia) next weekend. This is the Gen 2 model. For the drive home I want to plug my iPhone in for Apple CarPlay, mainly for navigation...
Hi all,
New to this forum and EV in general, so seeking help regarding schedule charging and the best charger for the vehicle.
I have purchased a 2020 plate ZS and my installer recommended a Rolec QUBEV smart charger. I have had this installed and have been using the QUBEV app but it will not...
We went up to auckland yesterday 120 kms away in my 2023 phev. On the way back the engine fault light came on. As it was yellow I kept going to home and went to the dealer this morning to have it checked. They tested it and found the O₂ sensor was faulty.. Exactly the same as what happened one...
Hello. I just bought a MG 4 luxury 2023 model, and I’m wondering what type of battery it has, and if I can charge it to 100% without it being bad for the battery?
Just canvassing dealers for prices for 4th year ZS EV service.. (not in a 2.50 a month service plan)...
Anyone had one done recently? How much we talking & where please?
I am finding that, even after a poke, some dealers claim there is now no "MG low mileage service" they can offer? Despite it...
Only had vehicle 3 weeks taking time to get used to all and everything, just got to the satnav it does nothing I don't think it even knows where it is! I enter address press go says turn left and that's it nothing more even the map doesn't change, would welcome any help please. TIA
I've been trying to find the inbuilt sat nav for my (leased) MG4 EV LR, but my infotainment home screen does not give me the option of a Navigation button, even though the NaviManual and User Manual tell me this is where I can find it.
The manual says I will find it on the home screen but...
Now that the weather is less terrible in the UK, how is everyone's range doing? Anyone been able to get 300 miles out of it without going into panic mode yet?
