Thx for your quick reply. But I dont think I can do this. Every time now I get an error before it gets to this module. I think my problem right now is that is necessary to put the car in P mode. But I can't do that. It switches a few sec later to N. I turned the battery off but it won't helpModules that fail, reprogramme individually as replacements - different tab to the one touch update.
To get it to work there may be battery disconnects needed and as for the park thing. Mine had similar but updating more modules and doing that final procedure it warns you about (parking on level ground and doing the things it tells you like holding the brakes sorted it). Also, be prepared to have to try multiple times to get stubborn modules to take the programming FVCM took 9 goes - it was painful.
Hi there, I've just bought a FL MG5 with a fault and I also have a ZS EV trophy here at home.Did you ever work this out? Just done all the updates to my MG5 FL except these.
I do not have VNCI, but I am considering whether to order one (or just give a long problem list to my dealer).Only TBOX MPU. For TBOX MCU, you need SIPS
I am on 19e32 at both. Ismart is a little lagging especially after the car has been "sleept".You can update only the MPU, I saw many cars with TBOX MPU and MCU worth different version (MPU with 21E32, MCU with 18E32 for exemple) but it's better to have bof update to prevent any issues.
But the real question is : if your car connectivity and iSMART are working, why would you update them ?
Nice, do you feel and different at TJA behavior?Hello,
Many thanks to everyone involved in providing references and links describing how to upgrade our MG4 modules.
After my MG4 second year maintenance, where once again no updates were done, I decided to do it myself.
The car works really well but LKA and ACC issues are annoying at times (if not dangerous for LKA)
I started with EVCC reprog which actually does reprogram 7 modules (GW, BMS, EVCC, SCU, IMCU, EPMCU then CCU)
IMCU did not work properly ("ppf file run failed"), issue fixed by disconnecting VNCI, closing the car for a few minutes and trying again.
EPMCU then failed with "communication error", tried different things to no avail.
The car was still usable, but since my 12V motorbike charger (1A) was strugling to keep up with the car consumption while reprogramming so I bough a proper one (5A)
Tried reprogramming again with new charger, this time EVCC failed with communication error every time. At some point it showed "VIN mismatch". To fix it you have to plug in your EV charger. You can then re-read the ECU and disconnect the charger.
I then changed strategy for the two remaining modules : instead of using "Programming and coding" tab, I tried using the "One Press" one.
EPMCU & CCU : Ok !
Used the classic program function from "Programming and coding" for HVAC, FDR, FVCM (took 1 hour !), IPK (35 mn), no issues.
Then used the config function for FVCM, FDR, BMS, IMCU, GW, ESCL
For IBS and BCM, I used the One Press tab
TBOX MPU via USB then MCU via SIPS, and finally the infotainment update (don't forget to reset to factory default, you can skip the iSmart prompt)
After a quick ride :
ACC behaves way better in corners, I have a trcky one on my daily comute (downhil + bridge/wall on side of road) that used to drop 10km/h for around 10s. Now it just drop 1 or 2 km/h, and quickly go back to set speed.
LKA is better : forcibly went to a side of the road, got a slight nudge and a beep.
HVAC : will check in the future
Word of advice to anyone wanting to do it as well :
- If you use a VNCI adapter, update your firmware (1.0.0.9)
- Buy a proper 12V battery charger (5A works fine, 1A is not enough)
- Use a laptop with working battery or a desktop connected to a UPS
- Make sure to use the latest SIPS software (1.0.2.5)
Is key programming available via this software?I am on 19e32 at both. Ismart is a little lagging especially after the car has been "sleept".

Does TJA can handle now roads with only one side marking?
All the info is in this thread, you need a VNCI VDI III from aliexpress or similar, mine was about £120 delivered. Then you just need a subscription to the MG diagnostic tools, I got 24 hours access to do mine, it includes the download links for SIPS etc. I believe it can do keys but I haven't had cause to try it myself.Hi there, I've just bought a FL MG5 with a fault and I also have a ZS EV trophy here at home.
I have some diagnostic experience and plenty of mechanical / IT experience.
What's the cheapest and easiest way for me to get CDs / sips etc up and running?
Also, can it program keys

Yes, at some roads there is for a few meters that there is only one side marking and the other side is only a road fence, so the system disconnect without any notification.I rarely use the TJA, but it seems to be more capable of keeping the car straight
The turns are still a bit random, but maybe it's just me who doesn't trust it enough (I tend to stick to the side of the road)
It isn't able to handle roads without both markings, to be honest I wouldn't trust it outside of highways or its intended purpose : traffic jams
