charging
A charging station, also called an EV charger or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including hybrids, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).
Although batteries can only be charged with DC power, most electric vehicles have an onboard AC-to-DC converter that allows them to be plugged into a standard household AC electrical receptacle. Inexpensive low-power public charging stations will also provide AC power, known as "AC charging stations". To facilitate higher power charging, which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters, the converter is built into the charging station instead of the vehicle, and the station supplies already-converted DC power directly to the vehicle, bypassing the vehicle's onboard converter. These are known as "DC charging stations". Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to supply a wide variety of vehicles.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas.

Hi everyone,

Hi all,
So I have ordered a new ZE LR - I have quite a wait it seems! So I have started to do my research in the wait!
I have been looking at charging, and trying to think what the best solution for me would be. I have been flip-flopping more than the current government between just using...
i have the HS PHEV on order for delivery estimated in March and I am now looking to get a charge point installed at home. However, I am struggling to work out what the actual maximum charge rate of the vehicle is. I’ve seen quite a few posts on here stating that it is only 3.7kW, but the MG...
Just wondering guys, with all the different charging stations with different suppliers, do you have accounts at many or all? I guess this is a question mainly for folks that don't (yet) have a home charger.
I know it doesn't cost anything to register but maybe you just use the chargers on a...
Question probably been asked before but currently can't find a solution.
I have a BP Pulse wall charger which is basically dumb - plug in cable and switch on/off. I cannot control this or the car remotely which is my only gripe with the car.

Hi folks. After the success of getting the KERS 3/brake light problem addressed by MG, how was that issue presented to MG?
On the MG website, it’s recommended that the car is generally charged to 80% and yet there’s no way of restricting charge to 80% without making calculations to stop the...
I decided to check just how many miles per hour my Granny Charger would deliver. Experiment conducted over two days, yesterday and today.
My MG5 Long range was charged from its existing 40% to 100%. Checked on the mileage delivered over two lengths of time, results as follow….
The rate...
Last night, myself and Jake @MG ZS EV WEST YORKSHIRE took the Chorley Group Burnley demonstrator on a journey to test the real-world rapid charging capabilities.
I picked up Jake around 7pm from Oakworth, and we headed to the Ionity chargers at Leeds Skelton Lake Services. I used the "Battery...
We bought our MG5 LR just over a week ago and I’m loving it so far.

Hello everyone,
As the title suggests, the charging port (in front of the car with the huge MG logo) won't open no matter what we do.
We have made sure that the car is unlocked (in fact tried every combination of locked, unlocked, with the engine running, open doors, etc.) and we have tried...
I am sure this is covered elsewhere, but please accept my apologies as I can't find it.
I am not clear about the messages that I should get when charging is complete at 100%. I put my car on charge last night and it was on for over 9 hours (PodPoint 7kw unit). The message on the display read...
